eBay - 'Auction' for Themed Rooms ... etc

I placed a couple of trial 'Auctions' on eBay this week to start getting my name 'out there'. I am anticipating a great deal of interest, especially as Autumn approaches and people will be thinking of Christmas gifts.

The 'Auctions' have been offered at 99p, which will be refunded as soon as I have completed the free consultation, making it totally free to the client, but also making sure that it is all above board on eBay.

I am enjoying working on my latest paintings - I will put some photos on here soon, as I'm working over the weekend at my New Job working in a wonderful bookshop - hurrah!!

New MSN Group and Leaflet

I have just started a new 'MSN Group'. Here's the link: http://uk.msnusers.com/TheColourStudio.

If you wish to join the Group you will be able to connect with other like-minded people where we can discuss and share anything relating to themed rooms, murals and abstract paintings. Or anything else that takes our fancy at the time!

You will also be able to add Pictures, Documents, and contribute to the Message Board.

There is also a Calendar feature where up-coming events can be viewed.
In the 'Blog Documents' folder I have successfully uploaded a Microsoft Word copy of my leaflet: 'Themed Rooms for Babies and Children' (see previous post) - please feel free to take a look! If you choose to print it out, it is double-sided and folds into 3.

Below are the 2 sides of the leaflet

Themed Rooms for Babies and Children

Do your children have a favourite book, sports team or TV character?

Would they like to see something more exciting and original on their bedroom walls – perhaps a splash of pink sparkle or a pirate ship ahoy? Fantasy Land or Flower Power? Little Critters or Space Cadets?

Themed Rooms and Murals
Themed rooms and murals are an exciting and original alternative to wallpaper. Whether it is to theme a new nursery, update a child’s room or enhance an adult’s living space, any style or design may be tailored to suit your personal taste and budget.

Deciding the Theme
Following our initial discussion I will arrange to view the area you intend to have painted, and we can talk through your ideas. If your child is old enough I also like to chat about their wishes to ensure that everyone is happy! If you need further inspiration, I will also bring along more ideas, pictures and books to look at.

The paints I use are waterproof and non-toxic and are ideal to be used around babies and children.

How Much Will It Cost?
You may have a small area, a whole room, or anything in between, so the cost can vary widely, taking into account the complexity of the design and condition of the walls.

Once the design and size are confirmed I can give you the full cost, inclusive of materials and time, so the price will remain as quoted, unless any major changes are made during the project.

Prices start from just £45.00, so please contact me to arrange your free consultation with no obligation.

Payment
I will require 25% payment before project commencement, 25% at the half-way point and the remaining 50% upon completion.

No project is too large or too small, and every project is treated with the same personal care and attention.

Themes
Please see below for a wide selection of themes that could be successful in your child’s room. If you have an alternative subject in mind please contact me, as all ideas will be considered . . .
  • All Stars Sports
  • By The Sea
  • Characters
  • Fantasy Land
  • Flower Power
  • Alphabet & Numbers
  • Farm Friends
  • Colours
  • Gone Fishing
  • Jungle Fun & Safari
  • Little Critters
  • Planes, Trains & Automobiles
  • Jurassic Room
  • Musical
  • Wild Wild West
  • Pet Pals
  • Space Cadets
  • Hand Painted Furniture

The above text is from a leaflet that I have just finished designing and printing, to be given to local parents and families. If you are interested in a themed room/wall mural then please send me an e-mail and we can discuss your ideas and requirements.

Don't forget, you get a FREE consultation with no obligation!

Getting a feel for colours

I've just finished playing around with some colour ideas for my next piece.

Whenever I see a collection of colours that look really good together I write them down, so I end up with lots of little lists of colour all over my sketch book! I wonder, does anyone else do the same?

Today I did a small experiment with a new glue pen I found last week (I'll be adding fine coloured glitter to each painting to give it that extra sparkle). This glue comes in the form of a ball-point pen - and writes just like a pen would - very fine lines and patterns can be created this way, rather than having big blobs of glue in places you don't really want. It's acid free and photo safe. The pen is called 'Stiki-Glue Pen' made by LP Creative.

Click here to go straight to the pen on their website, http://www.lpcreativecrafts.com/, it looks like a great place for craft products for adults, kids and teachers, and they also have a large collection of craft projects to download.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow I am going to do some painting. Hooray!

I have many, many pencil drawings stored in my sketch book that have been waiting to escape and be turned into something more beautiful with lots of colour and glitter!

I will put the before and after photos on here soon for you to see.

It's late now and I need to go to get my creative beauty sleep.

Good night, sleep tight :-)
